King sends a Birthday Message to Glaswegians

PNG

The King and Queen have sent a message to the people of Glasgow praising the city for its fascinating history,  rich culture and centuries of resilience as it celebrates its 850th birthday.

The heartfelt message was read aloud by The Lord Lyon King of Arms, a Scottish official responsible for regulating heraldry in Scotland, at an interfaith service in Glasgow Cathedral.

Part of the message read, "It goes without saying that people really do make Glasgow. As one of the most diverse cities in Scotland and beyond, it is entirely fitting that the celebrations to mark this milestone are equally vibrant, demonstrating the rich culture, heritage and captivating history of your ever-evolving city."

The message also expressed hope for a prosperous future for Glasgow, guided by its past achievements.
