Taste the Place

Taste the Place will provide the opportunity for locals and visitors to learn more about the history of Glasgow's hospitality scene by eating their way around the city.

Taste the Place - where food from our past, nourishes our future.

As part of Glasgow's 850th Anniversary celebrations, Taste the Place will provide the chance for locals and visitors to learn more about the history of Glasgow's hospitality scene - by eating their way around the city.

Launching in April, Taste the Place offers a series of free self-guided experiences, designed to celebrate (and show off) a key ingredient in Glasgow's vibrant culture - its food scene.  Each experience has been created to offer inspiration for discovering new foods and culinary offerings all served from independent businesses who call Glasgow home.  The destination, however, is up to you!

Partnering with over 40 eateries, Taste the Place is a must for food lovers, offering delicious dishes by those who've been in the city for generations, or have recently made Glasgow their home. You can expect to find everything from a 100-year-old ice-cream parlour loved by local celebs, and Glasgow's oldest sweetie shop, to new and emerging international cuisines including an Easter European bakery and south-east Asian street food served from a hole-in-the-wall.

Download the digital map From April 2025 to explore at your own pace and savour the inspiring stories behind each bite.
