Taste the Place

Taste the Place will provide the opportunity for locals and visitors to learn more about the history of Glasgow's hospitality scene by eating their way around the city.

Launching April 2025, our free self-guided digital trail will give individuals the chance to enjoy stories and experiences shared by local people and businesses who have been serving up authentic and sustainable dishes for generations or have recently made Glasgow their home.

Partnering with over 40 eateries from across Glasgow, this unique experience takes food lovers on a cuisine heritage journey from a:

  • 100-year-old ice-cream parlour favoured by Glasgow-born celebrities;
  • a southside Italian Bistro housed within the UKs only remaining tram shelter; and
  • Glasgow's oldest sweetie shop to new and emerging international cuisines;

including an:

  • innovative southside plant-based bakery;
  • southeast Asian street food served from a hole-in-the-wall;
  • ottoman style coffee ceremonies; and
  • Eastern African dishes eaten by hand.
